Arran started racing motorcycles at the tender age of five. As an athletic child, he excelled at sports. His father cycled the Cape Argus every year, and when he was 16, Arran began borrowing his dad’s bike to keep fit. That year he entered his first race, the 94.7 Cycle Challenge, and achieved an impressive finish, which brought him to the realisation that cycling offered him good future prospects. He focused his efforts on cycling, stopped racing motorcycles at age 19, and was selected to join a professional team at the age of 20. In 2007, he scored his first major win, scooping the U23 South African Time Trial Championships, as well as placing third overall two days later in the U23 Road Race Championships. In 2009, Arran achieved a South African first – winning the “Triple Crown” in one year by placing first at the Cape Argus Cycle Tour, the Amashovashova and the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challeng. In 2011 Arran won the Green jersey overall in the Tour de Maroc (Morocco). He continues to push for victory at every chance and has achieved more than 60 podium finishes since 2007
