For Youth Day on 16 June, you can help Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung to provide bicycles for 5,000 South African schoolchildren who currently walk 30 minutes or more to school through the #BicyclesChangeLives campaign.
500,000 pupils in South Africa walk 5km or more to school. Findings from an internal evaluation of the Bicycle Educational Empowerment Programme (BEEP) undertaken in Zambia in 2012 showed that learners who received bicycles increased their attendance rates by an average of 28%, and academic performance for learners increased by 59%.
