A few weeks ago we announced that World Bicycle Relief would be distributing 220 bicycles to students in Eritrea, funded by the 9th annual 50 Mile Ride for Rwanda. Our very own Anthony Fitzhenry, founder of Qhubeka, attended the distribution ceremony and spent some time in Eritrea. Here are some of his photos:
The students were thrilled to receive bicycles. Here’s Kimberley Coats from Team Africa Rising with one of the recipients.
Proud parents celebrated alongside their children as they received bicycles.
There were also professional Eritrean cyclists in attendance – an inspiration for the children.
There are now 220 more children cycling to school in Eritrea, which means they get there more quickly and safely. If you’d like to help mobilise people with bicycles, consider making a donation here.
