OMSFIN, a division of Old Mutual, the title sponsor of the 9-day Old Mutual joBerg2c MTB event, challenged guest riders at this year’s event to ride for more than themselves, and the results have been impressive!
Qhubeka would like to convey heartfelt thanks Old Mutual and OMSFIN for promoting Qhubeka and helping us to mobilise more people with bicycles on a work-to-earn basis. Special thanks to Andrew McPherson, who came up with the concept and is the OMSFIN host who invited the banks to participate, as well as to two riders who played an enormous role in raising funds, Waldus de Jager of Standard Bank and Nielan van der Wyver of RMB. Well done guys – we salute your commitment! Thanks also to the international riders who contributed, including Michiel Stubbe, Trevor Crowe, Gavin Lee and Mark van Gorp.
In addition to the bicycles funded that will be handed over to recipients of Qhubeka programmes, eight bicycles were distributed by OMSFIN to farm workers who helped to prepare the route for Joberg2C race.
Gran Fondo Pinarello Raffle winner
OMSFIN also organised a raffle to raise additional funds for Qhubeka, with the exciting prize of an entry to the Gran Fondo Pinarello Tour in Italy sponsored by ASG. The winner is Anri Parker, pictured below. Congratulations, Anri!
Anri is mom to two boys and is thrilled to be heading to Italy on 9 July. “I’m super excited to do part of the Giro,” she enthuses. “It’s a lifetime dream that’s come true! Thanks so much to ASG, Old Mutual and Qhubeka. I can’t wait!”
