In the last six months, Qhubeka has worked across six provinces in South Africa and handed over thousands of bicycles. We’ve put together an infographic showing the exact facts and figures so that you can see the difference that supporters like you help us to make.
“I am delighted with the progress Qhubeka has made this year. 2014 has seen an increase in support by many individual South Africans and corporate donors. Because of your support thousands of South Africans have been given the chance to work or study to own a bicycle.
We have increased our capacity for assembling bicycles with the creation of a bicycle plant in Groot Marico as part of The Madikwe Rural Development Programme (MRDP). This project has created more than 20 new jobs in an area with 80% unemployment. The project produces 1 000 bikes a month as part of our rural economic development focus.
Giving a hand-up is fundamental to everything we do at Qhubeka. We distribute bicycles, but really Qhubeka is in the business of changing lives. Together with our donors and supporters, Qhubeka is bringing hope and mobility to thousands of people who are working hard to have a different future.”
