We’re profiling our awesome #QhubekaActivists – people who have signed up to raise funds for Qhubeka in a range of different ways. If you’ve raised funds for us and would like your story shared here, please email wendy@qhubeka.org. If you’d like to find out about how you can fundraise for Qhubeka, check out our Fundraising Page.
Tony Rall sent us these images below from the annual cycling tour from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town that takes place over five days and covers 800km. “This ride is in its 21st year and is organised by John,” says Tony. “Most of the riders are or have been MTN Club 100 members, with a few of us having been with the Club since its inception 25 years ago.”
“The ride has no particular purpose other than a group of about 40 like-minded individuals who enjoy riding their bikes through some of our country’s most beautiful scenery,” explains Tony. “I guess to make it a little more meaningful a few years back we introduced a fines evening where the proceeds go to a charity, last year we decided on Qhubeka and the association with bikes and Club 100 seem resonate with the participants.”
The last tour raised enough funds to pay for 14 Qhubeka Buffalo Bicycles, which will positively impact up to 70 lives.
On two of the days we rode in sponsored cycling tops which added to the comradery of the event and hopefully provided some marketing benefit to the sponsors. Next year we would like to ride in Qhubeka tops for one of the days which will highlight the cause even further. We will contact you prior to the event to arrange this, the costs of the tops we will include the tour cost.
