RDC chooses Qhubeka as its Volleyball Charity Day beneficiary

Qhubeka is honoured that we have been chosen as RDC‘s charity for the 2016 Volleyball event. RDC was established in 1978 and stands for Radio Data Communications. The company’s expertise lies in VHF communication for alarm monitoring. The company has supplied over 1.5 million VHF transmitter units and has over 400 radio networks located in South Africa and around the world.

The company is hosting a Volleyball Charity Day at the Edenvale Sports Club in Johannesburg on Saturday 10 September and we are the chosen charity that they are supporting this year.

“RDC sees its support of Qhubeka as a natural fit,” explains MD, Brent Andreka. “We are passionate about contributing to the prevention of crime in South Africa. Our products form part of the systems that prevent loss of property and harm to South Africans each day. Qhubeka’s innovative approach, through mobilising people with bicycles, tackles social issues at a community level.”

If you’re interested in taking part, here’s how the RDC Volleyball Charity Day will work:

Play
Enter teams of six players at a cost of R500 per team (an entrance fee of R10 per car is payable at the gate).

The volleyball teams will battle it out throughout the day in their quest to win the coveted RDC Volleyball title and some great prizes.

There will be a kids’ activity area, so the whole family can enjoy the day and you can leave your little ones in safe hands while you play. Food and drinks will be available for sale or you can bring your own picnic basket. No alcohol may be brought to the venue, but the club bar will be open for business.

RDC will also run a “Qhubeka Dash”, where people can compete to see who’s the fastest on one of our Qhubeka Buffalo Bicycles (which are 22kg, steel-framed, single-speed beasts). Prize for the fastest!

RDC is also planning a giant human bike formation, a la Tour de France. “We will be gathering the crowd to make our own moving bicycle on the field which will be filmed from above,” explains Andreka.

Sponsor

RDC are seeking sponsors for various different parts of the charity event. There are different opportunities available, from key sponsorship to funding bicycles, prize sponsorship, setting up a stall (to promote your brand or sell your wares), sponsoring the filming of the human bike formation.

To take part in the event, whether as a player or a sponsorship partner, contact Charmaine at RDC on +27 11 452 1471/2 or charmaine.s@radiodata.co.za.
