Qhubeka to benefit from world’s largest virtual training camp, taking place from 13 – 19 November
(Long Beach, California, 1 November 2017) – Zwift, the global online fitness platform for cyclists, is to host what is set to be the world’s largest training camp in partnership with Team Dimension Data. The training camp will feature a mix of group rides and Group Workouts. Group Workouts are a new addition to Zwift and make structured training sessions more social – keeping riders of different abilities banded together, regardless of their exact power output. This could be the only chance to complete a sprints workout shoulder-to-shoulder with Mark Cavendish!
The rides, open to Zwifters globally, can be found listed on the Zwift Events Pages and will be led by riders from World Tour outfit, Team Dimension Data from the team’s end-of-season camp in Cape Town, South Africa. Zwifters are encouraged to donate to Qhubeka to raise money for Qhubeka Bicycles. These are distributed into Qhubeka’s various work-to-earn, learn-to-earn and disaster relief programmes. The Qhubeka Bicycle ($150) and Team DiData kit ($25) will be available to unlock in-game via a charitable donation to Qhubeka (see images below).
“Zwift is an amazing platform that connects people around the globe,” says Doug Ryder, Team Principal for Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka. “Their virtual world allows us to engage with our fans in a truly unique way, and brings people closer to our charitable cause, Qhubeka. We are delighted that through Zwift, we can offer fans the opportunity to join the world’s largest training camp, which in turn will put more children in Africa on bicycles.”
“We are proud to once again be in a position to support Qhubeka and the work they do to get more people moving forward with bicycles,” says Steve Beckett, VP Marketing, Zwift. “This is a truly unique experience to ride with the world’s best professional riders. Something that wouldn’t be possible on such a scale outside the virtual environment of Zwift. The series is intended to be an enjoyable, social experience for our community that will get them to #RidewithReason this November.”
