A big thank you from Qhubeka and our implementation partners, Wildlands Conservation Trust and World Vision SA, to the Thomas Clapham School in London for their support. We enjoyed hosting a visiting group from the school on their hockey tour at Spier where 10 of the 46 bicycles they have funded were distributed to Wildlands Conservation Trust Treepreneurs.
The treepreneurs earned them by each growing 100 indigenous tree seedlings, which they then bartered for the bicycles. The remainder of the bicycles will be distributed to children in the Bicycle Education Empowerment Programme (BEEP). Learners sign a two-year study-to-earn contract to improve their school attendance in exchange for a bicycle, which then becomes their property at the end of the contract period.
